Raton Multi-Modal Facility
Location: Raton, New Mexico
ACEC-NM Engineering Excellence Award Winner
The new Raton Multi-Modal Facility is the first essential step in a long-term vision for revitalizing the city’s historic downtown area. The facility’s design embraces the site’s history by incorporating historic cultural features and by preserving and protecting the site’s historic buildings, features, and walls. It enhances transportation elements by improving intermodal connectivity between bus and rail, encouraging bicycle and pedestrian use, increasing safety features near the railroad, and providing ADA-compliance. It also builds a platform for the future as a catalyst for change, building block for economic development, opportunity for multi-modal expansion, and a gateway for the community. The BHI team supported the City of Raton by providing traffic engineering, coordinating with stakeholders and various agencies, public involvement and all aspects of civil engineering design.
