Summary
Teamed with Kiewit, BHI was the lead design firm for the design-build reconstruction of this over-capacity interchange in Albuquerque. This partial reconstruction added free-flow ramps for the two most congested movements, including a signature flyover from northbound I-25 to westbound Paseo del Norte Blvd. On a rapidly accelerated pace, BHI implemented a range of creative engineering approaches to optimize the conceptual design to realize the best value to the community for the $75 million budget. For example, realigning the original flyover design cut the structure length by 41%, improved functionality, reduced environmental impacts, and minimized the maintenance footprint.
