City of Albuquerque Development Manual Transportation Element
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
ACEC-NM Engineering Excellence Award Winner
The City of Albuquerque Development Process Manual (DPM) provides land development regulations and roadway infrastructure requirements for publicly- and privately-funded roads in Albuquerque. BHI was part of the project team that provided a much-needed comprehensive, cohesive, and easy to understand update to the DPM Transportation Element. This update combines technical standards related to roadway geometry with guidance related to the application of street elements. Its design standards vary by location to ensure transportation infrastructure is context-sensitive and supports surrounding land uses and development patterns. The DPM incorporates national best practices to ensure safely-designed street elements and encourages locations with multi-modal transportation elements, slower travel speeds, and pedestrian-oriented design.
