Bohannan Huston Announces Jeff Mulbery as
Chief Operations Officer
Albuquerque, New Mexico / September 2026 – Bohannan Huston, Inc. (BHI) is pleased to announce that Jeff Mulbery has been named Chief Operations Officer (COO), succeeding longtime COO Leslie Small, who plans to retire at the end of 2026 after 41 years with the firm.
Jeff was selected for the role in late 2025 and began working closely with Leslie in January as part of BHI’s planned leadership transition. Over the past several months, he has been learning the role and working with BHI leadership on the priorities that support the firm’s day-to-day operations.
Jeff has spent much of his career at BHI, serving in both technical and leadership roles, most recently helping to lead the firm’s Community Development & Planning group. In his new role as COO, he will support operations across the company while continuing to focus on the people, processes, and collaboration that enable BHI to serve its clients and communities well.
“Jeff brings a strong understanding of BHI, our culture and people, and how we work together across the company,” said Bruce Stidworthy, President and CEO of BHI. “He has also been a strong advocate for innovation and developing our people, helping lead internal initiatives such as BHI’s Project Management Office and Sustainable Solutions Task Force. Those efforts reflect the way Jeff approaches leadership by looking for ways to strengthen our teams and improve how we work. He has brought that same thoughtful approach to this transition, and I’m looking forward to seeing him step into the COO role.
Bruce also expressed his appreciation for Leslie and the many years she has dedicated to BHI. “Leslie has made an incredible impact on BHI throughout her career, bringing a technology-focused approach to streamline not only how we do our work but also how we think about doing our work. We are deeply grateful for her leadership, her commitment to our people, and the steady guidance she has provided as COO for nearly 12 years. She has helped shape the company we are today, and we appreciate the care she has put into preparing for this next chapter.”
Leslie joined BHI in 1985 and became Chief Operations Officer in October 2014. Before stepping into the COO role, she served as Senior Vice President of BHI’s Advanced Technologies group and worked across the firm’s engineering, spatial data, and technology disciplines. Throughout her time as COO, she has helped guide BHI’s operations, quality initiatives, risk management, technology, and business processes.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to take on this role and continue the work Leslie has done over the years,” Jeff said. “Working closely with her throughout this transition has been incredibly valuable. I look forward to supporting our people using my own leadership style to help BHI continue to grow and serve communities across the region while staying true to the principles that have made this company successful.”
Leslie will continue working with Jeff and the BHI leadership team through the end of 2026 to support a smooth transition before her retirement.
